Rainbow Progress Flag was designed in June 2018, by designer Daniel Quasar the redesign incorporating elements from both the Philadelphia flag and trans pride flag to bring focus on inclusion and progress within the community. The flag design spread quickly as the Progress Pride Flag on social media, prompting worldwide coverage in news outlets. While retaining the common six-stripe rainbow design as a base, the “Progress” variation adds a chevron along the hoist that features black, brown, light blue, pink, and white stripes to bring those communities (marginalised people of color, trans people, and those living with HIV/AIDS and those who have been lost) to the forefront; “the arrow points to the right to show forward movement, while being along the left edge shows that progress still needs to be made.
Shipping
All our flags are made in our Brisbane factory. You can visit us and pick up your order for free, or we can post your order to you. All orders have a starting cost of $20 (ex. GST), for one flag or smaller orders, with larger flags 2.5yd and multiple flag orders quoted at time of dispatch for postage anywhere in Australia. We generally post orders with Australia Post.
Flag Materials
A question we often receive is what is the difference between knitted polyester, woven polyester and fully sewn flags?
Knitted polyester – Knitted polyester is a lightweight fabric which is recognised by it’s shine. These flags are designed for both indoor and outdoor us as they fly easily in light wind. We do however only recommend using knitted polyester flags in calm to moderate conditions as it is the fastest wearing material, and can damage and fray quickly in hash winds. Woven polyester – Woven polyester is a heavy duty linen look fabric. These flags are for indoor and outdoor use and are considered longer lasting and more durable than knitted fabric. These flags are generally lower wearing in extreme conditions. This flag material is generally the standard for most government flags and are our most popular. We often keep an inventory of popular woven polyester flags in stock, whereas we make knitted polyester and fully sewn flags to order. Fully Sewn (or Appliquéd flags) – Fully sewn flags (or Appliquéd flags) sew images onto the woven polyester fabric. You can considered these flags to be the most prestigious look. The are suitable for harsh winds and has the same life span as woven polyester as its made from the same material. We only sell woven polyester international flags online. Durability and Flag Life
A flags life can vary based on its exposure to the sun and wind. Exposure to harsh sunlight and high winds can break down the fibres in flags which cause fraying. You can follow the tips below to maximise your flags life: Avoid strong winds – you can bring your flag down when strong winds are forecast to avoid excessive wear and early damage. Select the right material – woven polyester is the more durable material our flags are made of. If you require assistance in choosing the right flag material for your purpose you can give us a call on 3274 1823. We’d love to help you out. Rest Overnight – Flying the flag overnight can double its exposure to winds, unless required we recommend taking your flag down at dusk and raise it at dawn. Fly your flag freely – make sure your flag is clear from buildings, trees and other obstacles. This avoids unnecessary wear. Expected life – with all that said, flags flown continuously can expect to last 3 – 9 months, whereas flags bought in at night and taken down during strong winds can last up to 2 years.
