Flag Sizing
Standard Flag & Banner Sizes
The main measurement of a flag is along the top, and is traditionally twice the depth. This 2:1 ratio matches the Australian Flag. However, other ratios can be more appropriate for some designs, and flags of virtually any shape or size can be manufactured – including vertical flags which are becoming more popular.
The 2yd or 1.8m x 0.9 m is by far the most popular size, and is often the most appropriate. However, consideration must be given to where a flag will be flown, as it must appear in proportion to the flagpole, building, or other flags flying in close proximity to it.
The illustrations below shows our standard sizes.

The most effective flag and banner* designs are often very simple. Designs need to be bold and uncluttered to be easily identified when viewed from a distance, and because of the movement caused by the wind.
Designs using solid colours are preferred for the best results at economical prices. Shading effects and photographic reproductions my enhance a design, but can be costly for smaller quantities. Our flags and banners have the image appearing on both sides – correctly on one side, and in mirror reverse on the other. This is the internationally accepted standard
Single Sided vs Double Sided.
To have a positive image appear on both sides would require two layers to be sewn back to back. This results in a heavy, expensive flag, with the images often becoming unreadable when viewed against the light.
