The flag of Pakistan, officially adopted in 1947, is based on the flag of the All-India Muslim League, the group that spearheaded the struggle for a separate state for Muslims in South Asia. Pakistan gained independence in 1947 when India was partitioned into two separate dominions after the withdrawal of the British, and it became a Muslim Republic in 1956.
The flag is that of the All-India Muslim League with the addition of a vertical white stripe in the hoist, to represent the country's religious minorities. It also contains a central crescent and five-pointed star in white on a green background. The white and green together are said to stand for peace and prosperity. The crescent is said to stand for prosperity and the star to stand for light and knowledge. The colour green, the star and the crescent are all recurring Islamic motifs.BUY NOW
