The flag of New Zealand was designed and introduced in 1869 and adopted as the national flag in 1902. New Zealand's recent history as a British Colony is reflected in the design of the flag which incorporates the Union Jack in the canton, and a stylized representation of the Southern Cross in the fly.
The stars of the Southern Cross are red fimbriated white and the flag differs from the Australian flag in the fact that the New Zealand flag only has four stars, whereas the Australian flag's Southern Cross has five stars. He design has survived New Zealand becoming a dominion in 1907, and achieving full independence in 1931. New Zealand is an independent member of the Commonwealth, and has been since 1931.BUY NOW
