A self-governing territory of the Netherlands, the Antilles is two island groups in the Caribbean, which became part of the Dutch empire in the 17th century. They became autonomous in 1954 and the flag was adopted originally in 1959. The red-white-blue colours are those of the Netherlands, with the red and blue in a cross pattern on a white field, while the five stars represent the islands of the Antilles.
These islands are; Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St Eusatius and St Maarten. There were originally six stars, the sixth representing Aruba, but that island became self-governing in 1986. The other islands have their own flags, with the exception of St Eustatius.Contact us to purchase
