The flag of Comoros was adopted in 1978 and uses the Islamic colour green and the Islamic symbol of the crescent. The four stars represent the four main islands of the group, which achieved independence in 1975, despite the fact that the islands of Mayotte, Anjouan and Moheli are separate political entities.
The word "Allah" appears in the upper fly corner and the word "Muhammad" in the lower hoist. The islands were long dominated by the Arabs. In the nineteenth century, they became a French protectorate, at first together with Madagascar. In 1947, the Comoros became an overseas territory. A large degree of autonomy was granted in 1960. The archipelago became the republic of Comoros on 6th July 1975.Contact us to purchase
