The flag of the Central African Republic was adopted in 1958. It combines the colours of Pan-Africa, red, yellow and green, with those of the French Tri-colour, blue white and red, with a shared vertical red stripe signifying their red blood, a common bond.
The intention was to encourage a partnership and inspire relations between, on the one hand, a union of the Central African Republic and the other states that had once been part of French Equatorial Africa and, on the other, France herself. This union, symbolized by the yellow star, has not however, come about. This hope is also reflected in the motto "zo kwe zo" meaning "a man is a man", expressing the belief in the equality of all men.Contact us to purchase
