The flag of Barbados, adopted in 1966, was designed by Grantley W. Prescod on the occasion of the state's independence. The blue and gold colours are representative of the sea, sky and golden sands of the island.
The trident of Neptune, relating to the peoples dependence of the sea's bounty, dates back to colonial times, and has a broken shaft to indicate the breaking of the political and constitutional ties of the past. It is also said to represent the three principles of democracy: government of, by and for the people.BUY NOW
